I think it’s always been known that when the President of the United States is addressing Congress, you either stand up and clap 6,000 times during his speech if you agree – or you sit your ass down.
Never before has someone yelled at the President – until now. South Carolina Joe Wilson thought it would be a good political move to call the Prez a “liar”.
I thought old boy was going to jump from behind the podium and drop the hammer on Joe. That look he gave him was the precursr to a back alley beatdown.

It might not be the right place to do it, but what Senator Joe Wilson did was to show the entire America that we’re all tired of being lied to, especially by the person selected to be the leader of the United States. We are all tied of the government cramming down our throats policies that we don’t/didn’t want; such as big coporations bailouts, cash for clunkers, TARP, etc. If the president and his party are not going to hear the citizen’s voices, even though we’ve tried hard to convey how we feel, then I’ll have to applaud Sen. Wilson for his courageous move just so the world will know how the Obama and his party have chosen to play politics and hurt the country for their own personal gain, instead of serving the country like they said they would – which has turned out to be one of the BIGGEST LIES.

Senator Joe Wilson finally realized what I realized
3 and 1/2 weeks after Obama announced that he was running for President. HE IS A LIER.
Unfortunately, the American people were so set on voting against Bush that they did not take the time to listen to what the candidates had to say.
Obama continues to lie every time he opens his mount.
The abortion paid program is still in the bill, but it is hidden.
He lied when he said that he will not sign any bill that has ear marks. What did he do when he siged the stimulus bill. Commenting that he did not have any time to waste, and then only spending 10% up till now.
I could go on and on with other examples.

As an elementary teacher who tries, daily, to instill in my students basic respect and manners, the comments from Wilson supporters is shocking. What happened to respecting your elders along with respecting each other, even if we have differing opinions? Senator Wilson could have very easily made his thoughts known using another medium, say an open letter in his favorite newspaper or speaking to the President himself. It is getting increasingly vile and disrespectful in our society. We don’t need our leaders exhibiting poor behavior in a public forum for all to see. Our children are growing up in this world we build. Let’s disagree respectfully when needed and remember that we as a human race don’t get far if we act like animals. It’s acting responsibly that’s the hard part. Wilson should be ashamed of himself and should absolutely make a public apology to his boss and our leader.

Who hasn’t said something that was on the tip of your tongue? Timing was perfect. I feel that attempts on the part of Barack Obama to hide his negative thoughts, feelings and parts of his personal character is getting harder for him to do.
President Obama ended his speech that night with God Bless America, I’m sure he meant it for Joe Wilson too. Since Obama brought up God, he would have to believe in the scripture that says, “A man will reveal himself in his word.” No matter how hard he trys to hide it.

And by the way Rossalynn I am Hispanic not white. So it is not only the white race complaining. I live south of Texas (Rio Grande Valley). This is land of Democrats and mostly (99%) Hispanic. However, we have had enough with Democrats excessive spending in Washington. We did not like it when George W did it and we certainly do not approve of Obama’s wasteful spending. He has been in office only 8 months and has spent more money then George W ever did in 8 years.
Also, Obama lied when he said he was bringing the troops home as soon as he became President. He has not ended the war(s) and has deployed hundreds of troops into Afghanistan. The number of troops in Afghanistan have almost tripled since he took office.
Reminder; his best friend and long time campaign contributor in Chicago, owns a company which manufactures military weapons and equipment. Well he is just paying them back, hah?

We all know George Bush lied to the public on many occasions about many different things. Thats not big news, so even if Obama is lying about whats in the bill (though he’s not) why are republicans acting like its the first time its ever happened? You’re ok with Bush’s continuous lying to the public but not Obama, why? I think that’s called a double standard. If its not a double standard than it must be racism. And people have to remember that in order to fix nationwide problems Obama will have to spend money. And since the nation is in such crisis it will take alot of money to fix. Obama is not bailing companies out for the heck of it. His administration is bailing out companies that are too big for our economy to lose. Look at it this way if Obama let those auto companies go out of business who do you thing is going to pay for the people on welfare, food stamps and medicare. As much as Obama is spending to bail companies out its still less than what it would be to pay the expenses of all the out of work employees. The latter would be way more expensive. So stop crying about the bailouts, in the long run it will only help the economy. Or do you people not understand that?

This is to Dana: As an elementary school teacher, one would think that you would know that Sen. Wilson’s “boss” is not the President of the United States. Senator Wilson was elected by the people of South Carolina and he works for them and them alone.
Obama may have been elected to the Office of the President, but nobody is under any obligation to have to agree with the man. Sen. Wilson’s comments may have been made in the wrong setting, but they certainly weren’t inaccurate.
Educate yourself, schoolmarm, on how government actually works before you give further disinformation to your students.
