CBS 6 – Authorities say Monterey Park police fatally shot a man Monday who broke windows at a fast-food restaurant, then swung a 3-foot-long metal bar as he approached officers. The gunfire erupted about 9:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Cesar Chavez Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The sheriff’s department is investigating the shooting. Officers were investigating a report of a man “breaking out windows” at a Carl’s Jr. restaurant, sheriff’s Sgt. Pauline Panis said. Responding officers saw customers coming out of the restaurant, along with a man holding a 3-foot-long metal bar, Panis said. The officers ordered the man to drop the bar but he refused, Panis said, and at least one officer used a stun gun to try to subdue him. The man came “in close proximity” to officers and swung the bar twice she said. At least one officer opened fire, wounding the suspect. The suspect died of his injuries. Authorities withheld the name of the man, who was 20-30 years of age, pending notification of his relatives, coroner’s Chief Craig Harvey said.
This is why you don’t bring a 3ft metal bar to a gunfight. Guy had to of been on something pretty solid to not even be fazed by a taser to the face. Just pulled those prongs out like a BOSS and tried to go for the homerun swing with his metal pipe but came up short.
On a side note, how desensitized are we that people can laugh about someone losing their life? That’s pretty fucked up.

Yes, the multiple shooting was uncalled for, but the training calls for action when someone poses a threat with a deadly weapon. It’s sad but the officer did what he was trained to do. The world is better when you crack a couple eggs…

Cops never aim for your legs with a gun… never.. Its silly to suggest that’s what they should have done.
If a cop shoots at you he is trying to kill you and he will continue shooting until you stop moving.
There are plenty of videos out there of cops who DIDN’T shoot and paid for it with their lives..

I disagree respectfully there are times where instant reaction is key for survival and to hesitate may cost a life. Then there are times where thinking and using good judgment may save a life whether force is required or not. I realize the people that protect and serve us may or may not get the benefit of choosing the situation that may find themselves in but there are required to use their brains and be accountable for their actions. I think this situation was incorrectly assessed and the wrong course of action was taken. Also cops do shoot

1) The closer the prongs of the taser are when they attach to the target, the less surface area is effected by the electricity. If the prongs are less than 3 inches apart they are virtually ineffective. It’d be similar to touching a nine volt battery to your tongue then pulling two fishing hooks outta your cheek and with all the adrenaline going through this dudes system and probable intoxicants as well, I bet he didn’t even feel it.
2)The police officer was well within his rights to fire off some rounds at this person… just not ten. That’s ridiculous.
3)It is pretty sick how desensitized we, as a society, have become to laugh at the sight of someone dying.

Those who blame the COPS here have some issues. If a police officer tells you to drop your weapon, and instead you prepare to beat him down with it, your ass should definitely get shot.

That is insane. Maybe the cop felt as if he had no other choice to shoot him, but to let off his whole clip on that kid point blank? Come on now. That cop could of shot him in the shoulder once. I mean he’s five feet away, shouldn’t be that hard of a shot. Afterwards they just stand there like dummies.
