MSNBC – At a Sunday press conference wrapping up his visit to Colombia, President Barack Obama said he would be angry if it turned out the allegations that 11 Secret Service agents brought prostitutes back to their hotel rooms were true. “When we travel, we have to observe the highest standards. We’re not just representing ourselves. We’re here on behalf of our people,” he said. The Secret Service put the agents on administrative leave Saturday as a congressman briefed on the situation gave details of the presidential security group’s night with “presumed prostitutes” ahead of Obama’s trip to the Summit of the Americas. “This really is the biggest scandal in the history of the Secret Service,” Ron Kessler, author of “In the President’s Secret Service,” told NBC News. Agency Assistant Director Paul Morrissey said the employees were both special agents and uniformed division officers. None were assigned to directly protect Obama and the incident happened before he arrived. The agency did not disclose the nature of the allegations but others confirmed that the behavior in question involved prostitutes. As the women came to the hotel they had put their IDs at the front desk and you have to be out of the room by 7 o’clock in the morning next day,” King said briefers told him. “A guest of a guest has to leave the hotel by 7 o’clock; one of the women did not leave. Hotel management went up to the room and agents would not open the door so police came up.” “It was resolved quickly, the woman said she wanted to get paid, the agent said he didn’t have to pay her but he paid. There was no crime, no one was arrested.” Prostitution is legal in “tolerance zones” in Colombia.

I was reading that this whole thing could have been avoided if the agent would have forked over $47. That’s all she wanted for her “services” and if she was good enough to spend the night in your bed after you beat it up then she’s good enough for you to pay her and not get the rest of your agents in trouble. Can you really blame these guys though? The stressful job of protecting POTUS and having all that fine Colombian ass around you is enough to fork over a $50 spot for some Latin love. Rule #1 is knock it out and kick her out. You don’t need to have the evidence in your bed at 7am. Total rookie move on his part and I’m sure he’s having a great time right now explaining all that to his wife.

CNN – Deposed Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi has been killed, interim Libyan Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril told reporters in Tripoli on Thursday. There are conflicting reports surrounding the circumstances of his killing, which reportedly happened in or near Gadhafi’s hometown of Sirte on Thursday. Libya’s ambassador to the United Kingdom says that Gadhafi’s body is in Misrata, Libya. A different source – a spokesman for a member of the Tripoli military council – says that one of Gadhafi’s sons, Mutassim, and Moammar Gadhafi’s chief of intelligence, Abdullah al-Senussi, also have been killed. A grisly video that aired on the Al Jazeera Arabic network appears to show a lifeless Gadhafi with a wound to his head (see top of post). A photograph distributed by the news agency Agence France-Presse also appeared to show the longtime dictator severely wounded. CNN could not independently verify the authenticity of the images.

L.A. Times – The first lady shops at Target — just like us! An Associated Press photographer on Thursday snapped some choice photos of Michelle Obama in the checkout line of a Target store just outside Washington for what her office says was a “routine errand,” the likes of which she does often. The first lady appears to have been trying to pick up some items incognito. She is seen sporting a Nike cap and large, dark sunglasses. “It is not uncommon for the first lady to slip out to run an errand, eat at a local restaurant or otherwise enjoy the city outside the White House gates,” said Kristina Schake, communications director for the first lady. It’s unclear how the photo came about; her office said the photographer, Charles Dharapak, “caught her” at the store.

No doubt there is some KY Jelly in the mix and a cheap bottle of wine. Someone is going backdoor tonight.

The Australian – Sarah Palin’s husband has jumped to her defense over an upcoming tell-all book that claims she had a premarital fling with a basketball star and dabbled with cocaine. The allegations in The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin clash with the Tea Party darling’s persona as a champion of homespun values – including abstinence from sex before marriage – just as she ponders whether to go for the Republican presidential nomination. To be published on Tuesday, The Rogue is written by veteran journalist Joe McGinniss, who notoriously rattled the Palins last year when he moved into a house next to their lakeside residence in Alaska as part of his research. “This is a man who has been relentlessly stalking my family to the point of moving in right next door to us to harass us and spy on us to satisfy his creepy obsession with my wife,” husband Todd Palin said today. “His book is full of disgusting lies, innuendo, and smears,” he added in a statement carried by several US news media and political blogs. NBC’s Today program, airing an interview with McGinniss, said the author quotes friends of Sarah Palin as speaking of “a sexual encounter” she had with basketballer Glen Rice in 1987, shortly before she and Todd Palin eloped. Palin was then a local television reporter just out of college, and Rice – a National Basketball Association all-star great – was in Alaska with his Michigan college team for a tournament, the supermarket tabloid said. “In a short time, we got to know a lot about one another,” Rice told McGinniss, according to Today. “It was all done in a respectful way … She was a gorgeous woman, super nice. I was blown away by her.” McGinniss also told Today that friends of the Palins described snorting cocaine with them – another allegation that collides with mother-of-five Sarah Palin’s outspoken social conservativism. “I’m not saying Todd and Sarah Palin today abuse cocaine or even use it,” the writer said. “But there is no question that they both did at one point in their lives.” McGinniss described Palin as a “phenomenon” who was also “an absolute utter fraud” and “at worst, a vindictive hypocrite … What really surprised me is that the people who know her best like her least.” The National Enquirer, a supermarket tabloid, said this week the book tells of Palin, before she became Alaska’s governor in 2006, snorting cocaine “off an overturned 55-gallon oil drum while snowmobiling with pals”.
