NY Times – If you venture into a coffee shop in the coming months and see someone with a pair of futuristic glasses that look like a prop from “Star Trek,” don’t worry. It’s probably just a Google employee testing the company’s new augmented-reality glasses. On Wednesday, Google gave people a clearer picture of its secret initiative called Project Glass. The glasses are the company’s first venture into wearable computing. The glasses are not yet for sale. Google will, however, be testing them in public. In a post shared on Google Plus, employees in the company laboratory known as Google X, including Babak Parviz, Steve Lee and Sebastian Thrun, asked people for input about the prototype of Project Glass. Mr. Lee, a Google product manager and originally worked on Google mapping software Latitude, mobile maps and indoor maps, is responsible for the software component and the location-based aspects of the glasses. “We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input,” the three employees wrote. “Please follow along as we share some of our ideas and stories. We’d love to hear yours, too. What would you like to see from Project Glass?”

What’s next? Jamming a USB port up my ass so that I can print? The only plus to these glasses is the ability to fire up Spankwire pretty much anywhere and not have to worry about someone looking over my shoulder.

Kids these days with their PS3′s and XBOX 360′s had no idea what it was like growing up on Nintendo’s early systems. Having to fucking blow into the cartridges to get them to work, or pushing the cartridge down and sliding it over to the right or left just so it would read, are some of the best childhood memories I’ve got. ABC News – South by Southwest, the festival being held in Austin this week, has been chock full of interesting panels, lots of geeks on their phones, and marketing stunts. But the most daring marketing attempt — and probably the biggest backfire — has come from New York-based advertising agency Bartle, Bogle and Hegarty (BBH). The company turned homeless people on the streets of Austin into wireless hotspots. Knowing there would be high demand for free Internet at the event, the agency outfit 13 homeless people from Front Steps shelter in Austin with 4G MiFi devices, which broadcast Internet signals. Each participant was given a T-shirt to help advertise: “I’m Melvin, a 4G Hotspot.” Each homeless participant was paid $20 a day and got to keep all the donations. It was suggested users pay $2 per 15 minutes of Internet time. Users could pay in cash or donate through PayPal. “Homeless Hotspots in particular came about when we focused on the environment at the annual SXSW event, at which getting high-speed Internet access can be a challenge,” Emma Cookson, chairman of BBH, told ABC News.”We thought it might be worth trialling, giving the opportunity to homeless people to sell 4G connectivity to the tech-oriented attendees instead of a printed paper,” she added. The reaction to the “experiment” was overwhelmingly negative. Wired’s Tim Carmody described it as distopian and said “the homeless turned not just into walking, talking hotspots, but walking, talking billboards for a program that doesn’t care anything at all about them or their future.” But the “homeless hotspots” might not actually have felt that way. “I would say that these people are trying to help the homeless, and increase awareness,” Melvin, one of the 13 homeless people in the program, told Buzzfeed. “That’s a good side of it, too — we get to talk to people. Maybe give them a different perception of what homeless is like,” he said. Similarly, another participant Dusty White told ABC News that he doesn’t feel taken for granted and that he enjoyed talking to people. BBH said this was simply a pilot program. Although it has been rumored that they might bring the program to New York City, Cookson told ABC News that it doesn’t have any specific future plans yet, in New York or anywhere. “We are listening hard to this deluge of feedback, trying to learn and respond, and we’ll then consider what is appropriate to do next.”

MSNBC – Monroe police have charged a Maine woman with sexual assault after a teen’s parents complained that their son was having a sexual relationship with a woman in her 20s. The then-14 year-old boy and Cassandra Grant, then 21, of Rockland, Maine, met in March 2011 while playing a PlayStation 3 game online, police said. The relationship escalated as they texted, met on webcam and spoke on the phone, police said. In December 2011, the two met and had intercourse, police said. It was around this time that the teen’s parents learned that Grant was actually 21, police said. Monroe police and the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit investigated and police applied for an arrest warrant.

As a father of two boys, I’m definitely calling the cops if I find out my underage son is banging something that looks like this…

Cheaters is probably one of the most underrated t.v. shows on right now. Joey Greco has been busting people for 10+ years cheating on their significant others and always storms in with a t.v. crew big enough to film Star Wars all over again. How many people does it really take to hold a camera and a boom mic? I think at most he would need 3 people, but dude rolls 30 deep all the time.
